Such a light, fresh, and well, pretty color combination. I love this space. The couch is seriously ‘swoon-worthy’. LOVE!

Sometimes I like to take inspiration from the interiors around me and create looks from them. Here’s what I’ve come up with from Net-a-Porter for the beautiful room above:

And for a more affordable interpretation, try the looks below:

Monday’s Muse

Louis Vuitton

Until now, most Monday’s Muse posts have been about fashion & accessories brands whose “face” is the namesake herself (Monique Pean, Rachel Roy, Tory Burch, Diane Von Furstenburg, etc.).  Well, there’s a first for everything.  This week’s no exception to that rule because I’m featuring my first fashion “house” as a Muse.

Louis Vuitton is more than just a brand, it’s a fashion empire! Although a French Fashion House, it’s merchandise is somehow synonymous with American style.  Just about everyone recognizes the famous yummy chocolate brown infused with golden “LVs”. And what goes without saying is how ‘quality outshines style’ when talking Louis Vuitton.

With that being said, I am equally smitten with how charitable this fashion giant is. They seem to seamlessly weave giving into their business by periodically teaming up with other philanthropic businesses in order to support their work and missions.

For one, Louis Vuitton teamed up with the amazing White Ribbon Alliance {at the request of Ms. Naomi Campbell} to support the work that they do for women globally. Louis Vuitton designed a limited edition bag and donated a portion of proceeds to the organization.

Most recently, LV got it’s creative juices flowing and designed a special edition bag for Edun, the for-profit fashion brainchild of Bono & Ali Hewson.

Edun was created to raise awareness about the possibilities in Africa and to encourage the fashion industry to do business in this beautiful country. Sustainability is at it’s core based on their intent to do “business not charity”.

The Louis Vuitton Bag for Edun is, as expected, perfectly reflective of both brands being strong, durable and masterfully crafted.

I, like thousands of others, love Louis Vuitton for their products. But I also admire them for their efforts to support good in the world.

Louis Vuitton.

Style. Substance. Support.

LOVE!

Please visit Louis Vuitton to learn more about their philanthropic efforts.

Happy Monday!

XO,

Carla

Monday’s Muse

Nicole Miller

This French-American design treasure has proven to be more than just a creative genius. Through her partnership with Indego Africa, she’s also proven to be a genius about philanthropy. {The kind that keeps on giving.} Not only does she design swoon-worthy collections that women adore, she now co-designs an exclusive collection of fair trade bracelets and bangles with Indego Africa. Indego Africa operates under the brilliance of social enterprise, employing artisan women in Rwanda and returning 100% of profits back to them.  {Did I say “Brilliant”?!} Nicole Miller’s partnership line of “arm candy” is vibrant, lively and colorful.

{fun, fun, fun!}

Find the set of bangles above on Indego Africa’s website for a mere $25.00!

Love Nicole for her beautifully co-designed bangles & bracelets, and for her interest in empowering the world’s women.

Also love her for these…

Donatella Versace

We all know that iconic Fashion House Versace is pretty much a household name. Well, so is it’s head Designer, Donatella Versace. {Long golden hair; eccentric, playful personality and all.}  This Italian, creative genius has also proven to have a heart as golden as her famous locks.

A few years ago she founded the Versace ONE Foundation Children’s Center in China along with Jet-Li.  This humanitarian venture assists China’s children who have been affected by the devastating earthquake that shook that part of the world.  The Children’s Center is a place where school-aged children can “live, eat, learn and receive psychological assistance”.  It’s a place where peace, love, joy and hope can be injected into their lives.

Donatella also teamed up with the Whitney’s Education Department on a project called “Art Unites”.  Art Unites provides disadvantaged children in the US and China with an opportunity to benefit from the visual arts. Each child created an original drawing that was produced on a canvas bag.  The bag was then sold at Versace Boutiques and on Gilt Groupe with 100% proceeds benefiting the Starlight and ONE Foundations.{How adorbs is this photo?!! LOVE!}

After all that, how can you not adore Versace?

Besides, who doesn’t love this…

…or this…

…or this…or…

…THIS?!…

Genius. Genius. Genius.

Hope these pics inspire you not only to look your best on the outside, but to BE your best – from the

‘Inside Out’!

Carla

Monday’s Muse

Diane Von Furstenburg

With the start of the new year and this being the very first ‘Monday’s Muse‘ post of 2011, I thought it very fitting to feature the legendary queen of fashion, Diane Von Furstenburg.

She is, after all, fashion’s greatest mentor. With a career marked by such un-imaginable longevity creating such iconic pieces as every-woman’s must-have wrap dress, she’s been just as adamant about service & social responsibility. While building {and re-building} her fashion empire, this true powerhouse has always supported many organization’s that positively impact the lives of women, children and their communities.

A woman after my own heart. I completely adore her designs, but even more, I am taken by her commitment to philanthropy & helping others.

She’s ‘True Beauty Inside & Out’!

To give and inspire is a privilege.

{Her words, not mine.}

Please visit DVF.com for more information on how she stylishly integrates giving into her life.

Be Inspired!

Carla

Monday’s Muse

Kate Spade

Everything Kate Spade touches is joyously infused with wit, humor, and fun. Her designs are bursting at the seams with whimsy and charm – all of the things The She Market loves. Throw in some fashionable philanthropy for good measure and we’re hooked!

Her “Hand in Hand” partnership with Women For Women International is a brilliant venture into sustainability for women in developing countries. Women For Women provides training in knitting & Kate Spade New York provides creative direction. How cool is that!? Not only are these women taught how to create beautiful products that can be sold to help sustain their families, but they are also taught how to project their creative vision by a Master {Miss Kate Spade herself}.

Check out some of the amazing products below…

{Love this pom pom scarf!}

{Bangle designed by Kate Spade New York. Portion of Proceeds Benefits Women For Women International}

Micro-finance is a powerful tool for women worldwide that moves many towards self-sufficiency. A win-win for us all. Kate Spade New York’s Hand in Hand partnership with Women For Women International is yet another reason to adore & support her creative enterprise.

Visit Kate Spade New York for more info on Hand in Hand and Women For Women International. I promise you’ll be gleefully glad that you did!

Monday’s Muse

Catherine Malandrino

Fashion & music have long been ingenious partners. Catherine Malandrino & Mary J. Blige are two of the best examples of that ingenuity. This ‘power couple’ have teamed up in support of Mary J. Blige’s Foundation: Foundation For The Advancement Of Women Now, Inc {FFAWN}. FFAWN inspires women to gain confidence & increase the skills needed to attain their best lives.

One of the ways Catherine & Mary are stylishly addressing these important issues is with the collaborative creation of a t-shirt line. With statements such as “I’m Power”, “I’m Love”, “I’m Free”, & “I’m Myself” boldly displayed across the front, one can’t help but feel…well…powerful, free, loving and courageous!

How beautiful are these two?! Besides, just who doesn’t get inspired by Mary’s amazing music or Catherine’s covet-worthy designs.  {Check her Resort ’11 look below…}

LOVE them!

So go ahead, be inspired! Who will you team up with today to make this  wondrous world of ours a better place?…

…Prada’s Fall ’10 Headbands…

I must admit, I’m uncontrollably swooning over all-things-sparkly right now {Hint: blog post coming soon…}. These crocheted little beauties have me inspired though. So 1950′s Mad Men don’t you think?..

I also happen to love how most bands sort of matches the hair tone. Enough to bring it into full attention without over-powering the look.

Brilliant!!

Ok, so grab your girlfriends and try the look on for size. I for one, knowing how to crochet plan to give the look a try. When I do, I’ll be sure to post pics!
